FAQ
1. What types of manuscripts does Energy Sustainability accept?
Energy Sustainability accepts original research articles, review articles, case studies, short communications, technical notes, and applied engineering studies related to sustainable energy systems and energy transition.
2. What is the main scope of the journal?
The journal covers seven main areas: renewable and sustainable energy systems; power systems, smart grids, and microgrids; energy storage and battery systems; energy efficiency and energy management; mechanical and thermal energy systems; energy economics, policy, and sustainability assessment; and digital technologies for energy applications.
3. What language should be used in the manuscript?
All manuscripts should be written in English. Authors are encouraged to ensure that the manuscript is clear, grammatically correct, and suitable for international scholarly publication.
4. How long should the manuscript be?
The recommended manuscript length is:
- Full research article: 6,000–8,000 words

The word count may include the main text but usually excludes references, tables, figures, and appendices.
5. What reference style should authors use?
Authors should use a numbered citation style based on Number Style. References must be cited sequentially in the text using square brackets, for example [1], [2, 3], or [4–6]. The reference list should be arranged according to the order of citation, not alphabetically.
6. Does the journal use peer review?
Yes. All submitted manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer-review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential during the review process.

9. Is plagiarism checked?
Yes. Submitted manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with excessive similarity, unattributed text, or suspected plagiarism may be returned, rejected, or investigated according to the journal’s publication ethics policy.
10. Who owns the copyright of published articles?

12. Are published articles open access?
Yes. Articles published in Energy Sustainability are made available online as open-access articles to support broad dissemination of scientific knowledge in sustainable energy research.
13. How often is the journal published?
Energy Sustainability is published twice a year, in June and December.
14. Can authors suggest reviewers?
Authors may suggest potential reviewers during submission, but the final selection of reviewers is determined by the editors. Suggested reviewers should not have conflicts of interest with the authors.
